(POOL) Adjunct, Allied Health Nurse Aide II Instructor

Description

Instructs in the allied health programs as determined by the Allied Health Coordinator.
The Nurse Aide II Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings in accordance with state-approved curriculum standards. This role ensures student competency, regulatory compliance, and successful preparation for Nurse Aide II practice in North Carolina.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.


  • Provide instruction for Nurse Aide II course using approved curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  • Facilitate student learning in classroom, lab, and clinical environments, ensuring alignment with North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements.
  • Supervise and evaluate students during clinical training, ensuring safe, ethical, and competent patient care practices.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, skills validation, clinical evaluations, and competency checklists.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with student recruitment, retention, and program promotion efforts.
  • Coordinate and maintain instructional materials, equipment, and lab supplies.
  • Support student success through advising and timely feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
NONESSENTIAL OR SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Participate in staff meetings and college committees as requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing required. Current, unencumbered North Carolina RN licensure with at least 2 years of direct patient care as a registered nurse. The applicant meets at least one of the following: a) completion of a course in teaching adults; b) experience in teaching adults; or c) experience in supervising nurse aides.
Knowledge of Nurse Aide I and II scope of practice and competency requirements in North Carolina.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret required course content and technical skills as required by the NC Board of Nursing. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from instructors, students, staff, and the public.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current license as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing required.
Current American Heart Association CPR.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee frequently stands, walks, and sits for extended periods during classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction.
The employee must be able to demonstrate and assist with nursing skills, which may include repositioning, transferring, or supporting patients in a clinical setting. This may require the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Travel is required to clinical sites or occasionally for program-related activities.
