Orthopedic Surgeon - Sports & Joints (Pool)

We are looking for an experienced Orthopedic surgeon to work in a pool capacity to treat patients with orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to fractures, dislocations, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joint arthritic conditions with primary focus in both sports and joints. The home clinic will be in Sandy Springs but may also see patients in Jonesboro, Duluth or Kennesaw, based on need.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Provides care for Orthopedic conditions using generally accepted standards of practice. Develops a plan of care for each patient, including as needed complete history, physical examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and /or referral, used all available resources in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner.

  • Provides medical and/or surgical therapy or prevention of diseases, deformities, disorders and/or injuries of the bone, joint, ligament, or other musculoskeletal system.

  • Addresses clinical issues and develops medical aspects of care plan, including but not limited to, recommendations regarding observations, lab tests, medications, referrals, ordering tests and prescribing medications as appropriate.

  • Act as member of a treatment team, ensuring delivery of quality care and maintaining professional competence.

  • Confers with consulting physicians, midlevel providers, nurses, support staff, patients, and families concerning treatment and care of patients.

  • Makes further appropriate specialty and sub-specialty referrals, maintains responsibility, assuring continuing of care.

  • Participate in all department activities including on call responsibilities, meetings, etc.

  • Completing charting and required paperwork in a timely manner.


Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA)
  • Completion of internship and residency training in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Board Eligible “New Graduates” in credentialed specialty when hired must become Board Certified within four years of the date of the earliest eligibility for the appropriate board to continue employment with TSPMG. Clinicians that are hospital based must follow the hospital policy for board certification requirements


Preferred Education:

  • Completion of or currently matriculating in Subspecialty Fellowship of Orthopedic Sports Medicine


Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have good human relations and communication skills. Ability to talk with patients and determine health needs in a compassionate manner.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, comprehend and create written/verbal medical and business communication and documentation


Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications:

  • Prior employment as an Orthopedic Surgeon is preferred but not required


Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:

  • Board Eligible “New Graduates” in credentialed specialty when hired must become Board Certified within four years of the date of the earliest eligibility for the appropriate board to continue employment with TSPMG. Clinicians that are hospital based must follow the hospital policy for board certification requirements.
