Pop Culture & Entertainment Intern – Afrique Noire Magazine (Remote)

About Us:
Afrique Noire Magazine is a bold and future-facing platform dedicated to African and diasporic storytelling through culture, art, fashion, and politics. As we expand, we’re seeking an intern with a pulse on what’s trending—from film and music to viral moments and cultural movements—across the continent and the global diaspora.

Role Overview:

As our Pop Culture & Entertainment Intern, you’ll cover the stories that define the moment. From new African film and music releases to social media trends and viral conversations, you’ll pitch, research, and create engaging content for our magazine and digital platforms.

Your Responsibilities:

• Research and pitch weekly ideas around pop culture, film, music, and entertainment news relevant to Africa and the diaspora
• Write short articles, recaps, opinion pieces, or cultural spotlights
• Monitor African pop culture moments on platforms like Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, TikTok, and Spotify
• Help create engaging short-form content (Instagram stories, TikToks, carousels)
• Contribute to our editorial calendar with fresh, relevant topics
• Keep an eye on premieres, festivals, music videos, and entertainment headlines
• Collaborate with the editorial and marketing teams to ensure strong cross-platform storytelling

You’re a great fit if you:

• Have a deep passion for African entertainment, film, music, and pop culture
• Are an excellent writer and/or content creator
• Stay plugged into what’s trending online—and can see where the culture is going
• Can write with clarity, voice, and perspective
• Are excited to shape how Afrique Noire tells the stories that are shaping now
• Live in Africa or have strong on-the-ground cultural awareness of the continent’s current pop culture scene (Preferred)

Details:

• Location: Remote
• Living in Africa preferred
• Duration: 4 months
• Strong performers may be considered for long-term roles or contributor opportunities
