About Zemenick & Walker

Zemenick & Walker, Inc. is a growing, fee-only investment advisory firm (RIA) serving high net worth families across the country. With over $2.8 billion in assets under management from over 250 families across 30 states, we've built our reputation on a foundation of integrity, expertise, and superior client service.

Our 12-person team works together to serve clients, eschewing the siloed approach common in the industry. We act as fiduciaries at all times, never selling products, never collecting commissions, and always putting our clients' interests first.

Founded in 1987, we've maintained an informal and collaborative culture. If you're looking for a place where your expertise is valued, your contributions matter, and you can build a long-term career without the bureaucracy of a large institution, we'd love to talk with you.

The Role

We’re seeking an investment professional to join our team as a Portfolio Analyst. This is an opportunity to learn the craft of portfolio management within a stable, high-functioning team while contributing to the growth of a thriving firm.

You’ll work directly alongside our senior investment professionals, gaining hands-on exposure to trading, research, and client work. While our structure is flat and informal, this role offers long-term development with an opportunity for growth as your knowledge and capabilities expand.

What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities)

Trading & Portfolio Implementation

  • Execute trades across portfolios, including rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and cash flow management
  • Monitor portfolios for consistency with investment policies, objectives, and other matters requiring attention
  • Coordinate with operations and advisors to ensure trades and account activity are completed accurately
  • Assist trading team in the management of client bond portfolios

Investment Research & Analysis

  • Conduct research on mutual funds and ETFs, including both active and passive strategies
  • Track markets, economic developments, and themes relevant to client portfolios
  • Contribute to internal investment discussions and help develop a perspective on markets, valuations, and positioning

Client Meeting Preparation

  • Prepare performance reports and other materials for review meetings
  • Generate supporting analysis for presentations
  • Attend meetings as appropriate to develop advisory skills

Special Projects

Beyond core responsibilities, you’ll have opportunities to take on substantive projects that align with firm priorities and your developing interests. Examples include deep dives on specific asset classes or strategies, building or refining analytical tools, contributing to due diligence reviews for prospective clients, and supporting investigation and adoption of new tech/software.

What We're Looking For

Experience & Background

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in the investment/financial services industry
  • Strong Excel proficiency
  • Working knowledge of financial markets and investment fundamentals, with curiosity to deepen that knowledge over time
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field
  • Willingness to pass the Series 65 exam within the first year and to pursue the CFP® designation thereafter; we support and fund this development

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional organizational skills – You can juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail
  • Self-directed and proactive – You don't need to be micromanaged; you see what needs to be done and do it
  • Analytical mindset – You enjoy working with data, can move between detail and big-picture thinking, and care about getting the numbers right
  • Intellectual curiosity – You read widely, ask good questions, and want to understand how markets and businesses work
  • Collaborative spirit – You contribute to a positive team environment
