The Wistar Institute has an opening for a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Claiborne in the Vaccine & Immunotherapy Center. The Claiborne lab is focused on utilizing in vivo model systems of chronic antigen exposure to determine the mechanisms underlying the initiation and maintenance of dysfunctional T cell phenotypes. Specifically, the lab seeks to understand the pressures influencing the functional exhaustion of HIV-specific CAR T cells, in an effort to engineer exhaustion-refractory T cell therapies for an HIV cure, as well as the treatment of malignancies.
Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) with a background in one or more of the following areas: genetic engineering, basic T cell biology, immunology, and/or HIV pathogenesis. Special consideration will be given to candidates with prior experience in utilizing humanized mouse models.
The Wistar Institute is located in the University City area of Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Wistar provides resources to its faculty and staff that enable them to conduct cutting edge collaborative research and provides for outstanding intellectual environments and state-of-the-art facilities.
We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
