Job Description
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to conduct advanced research in smart energy systems and electric vehicle charging technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of solar photovoltaic based systems integrated with wireless charging for electric vehicles, with a primary focus on advanced control techniques for renewable energy integration and grid-connected operation. The research will involve modeling, analysis, and control of microgrids and smart grids, including the design of robust and optimal controllers using modern control methodologies such as linear matrix inequality (LMI) based approaches. The candidate is expected to have strong expertise in power electronics and control of grid-interfaced converters, along with hands-on experience in modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink. Experience in wireless power transfer systems for electric vehicle charging is highly desirable. A solid background in power electronics, control systems, and smart grid applications is essential, together with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
Minimum Qualification
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering • Strong interest in academic research in the above-mentioned field • Knowledge of control techniques for power electronic converters and grid-connected systems • Working knowledge of programming for control and optimization, including Python and MATLAB/Simulink • Experience with real-time simulators and hardware validation
Preferred Qualification
- Strong background in advanced control techniques for renewable energy systems and grid-connected power electronic converters, including modern control methods and LMI-based control design. • Experience with modeling, stability analysis, and robust or optimal control of microgrids under uncertainties • Publication track records are a plus.
