Avocet Aviation Services, an FAA Certified Repair Station located in Sanford, Florida, has an immediate opening for a Full-Time or Part-Time Power BI Analyst/Programmer.


Position Summary

The Power BI Analyst/Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that support data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role involves translating business requirements into analytical models, creating interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, and managing data integrations, transformations, and performance optimizations. The ideal candidate has a strong blend of technical programming skills, analytical thinking, and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Gather, document, and analyze business requirements from stakeholders to deliver actionable insights.
  • Develop and optimize DAX queries, Power Query (M) scripts, and data models to ensure efficient performance.
  • Create and manage data pipelines, integrating multiple data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Excel, APIs, SharePoint, ERP systems).
  • Write SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to extract and transform data as needed.
  • Collaborate with IT, data teams, and business users to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Implement and maintain data governance standards, including role-based security and version control.
  • Automate reporting processes and support the development of self-service BI capabilities.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Power BI reports, datasets, and gateways to ensure reliability.
  • Provide user training and support on Power BI tools and best practices.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing (or possessing) a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience developing Power BI dashboards and managing data models.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with ETL processes, Power Query, or other data transformation tools.
  • Experience with Python, R, or other programming/scripting languages is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Power BI (Desktop and Service), DAX, and Power Query (M).
  • Strong SQL development and debugging skills.
  • Understanding of data modeling, normalization, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or Data Lake) preferred.
  • Ability to connect to and work with APIs, cloud-based data sources, and flat files.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) is an advantage.
