Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Practice Manager specializing in Ophthalmology to lead and optimize the daily operations of our ophthalmic practice. This role is vital in ensuring exceptional patient care, efficient clinic workflows, and effective management of staff and resources. Duties
- Oversee all aspects of clinic operations, including patient scheduling, billing, coding, and medical records management to ensure seamless workflow.
- Supervise administrative staff, nursing personnel, and clinical support teams, providing guidance and fostering professional development.
- Manage fiscal responsibilities such as budgeting, financial reporting, and expense control to maintain the financial health of the practice.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards, and other relevant policies.
- Coordinate with ophthalmologists and healthcare providers to optimize patient care delivery while managing clinic resources efficiently.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks to maintain accurate patient documentation and streamline clinical workflows.
- Implement human resources practices related to hiring, training, performance evaluations, and staff scheduling to build a motivated team environment.
- Oversee medical administrative support functions including appointment setting, patient intake processes, insurance verification, and managed care coordination.
- Monitor clinic performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic initiatives for enhanced service quality.
- Maintain vendor relationships for medical supplies and equipment procurement while managing inventory levels effectively.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office management within ophthalmology or other specialized healthcare settings.
- Strong fiscal management skills including budgeting, financial analysis, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated supervising experience with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Dentrix is a plus.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and JCAHO accreditation standards.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, records management, and clinical workflows specific to ophthalmology practices.
- Ability to manage human resources functions such as recruitment, training, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.
- Experience with office management software tools for scheduling, billing, and reporting purposes.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
