Ambulatory Care Center is seeking an experienced and highly organized Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Coordinator to support our fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment. This role is critical in ensuring patients are thoroughly assessed, appropriately prepared, and fully optimized prior to the day of surgery. This role is PART-TIME, Monday-Friday, 4 hours per day.
As a key member of the perioperative team, the PAT Coordinator helps drive on time starts, reduced cancellations, and patient safety by proactively identifying risks and ensuring all pre-operative requirements are complete.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive pre-admission assessments via phone for scheduled surgical patients
- Review medical history, medications, allergies, and anesthesia risk factors
- Identify and escalate abnormal findings or risks to anesthesia providers and surgeons prior to the day of surgery
- Ensure completion and review of all required pre-operative testing (labs, EKGs, medical clearances, etc)
- Verify patients meet ASC selection criteria and anesthesia guidelines
- Provide clear pre-operative instructions, including NPO guidelines, medication management, and arrival expectations
- Coordinate with surgeon offices, anesthesia providers, and internal ASC staff to ensure case readiness
- Reduce day-of-surgery delays and cancellations through proactive follow-up and communication
- Document all assessments, communications, and clearances in the EMR
- Maintain compliance with AAAHC standards, CMS regulations, and ASC policies
Qualifications:
- LPN, medical assistant or qualified clinical professional
- Current license/certification as applicable
- Experience with pre-admission testing or anesthesia screening preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of ambulatory surgery workflows and patient selection criteria
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems
