San Antonio Academy of Texas is seeking an experienced and passionate music and performing arts teacher to join our Primary School team beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The music curriculum focuses on American music styles of Country, Blues, and Rock & Roll. Students explore music through instruments, such as guitars, drums, and keyboards. SAA seeks talented educators who not only facilitate challenging and rigorous curricula, but who also understand the importance of providing nurturing guidance through the development of essential teacher-student relationships. Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
- An outstanding grasp of both content and pedagogy of music education and performing arts including creative movement, critical listening, singing, and instrumental activities designed to develop basic music skills, concepts and vocabulary.
- Knowledge and experience with Kodaly and Orff methods preferred
- Experience with band or orchestra preferred
- Piano or keyboard skills preferred
- Ability to design inspirational experiences through a hands-on approach.
- Assist in planning and hosting several student performances throughout the year
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding student progress.
- Support the efforts of vertical team planning and curriculum alignment.
- Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Able to meaningfully receive, reflect on, and apply feedback to one's professional growth.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned, such as lunch, recess, and carpool.
- Attend all required meetings which may occur outside of the school day.
- Experience in all-boy education is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree; Teaching Certificate Preferred.
