The Pre-K Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment for young children. This role involves developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum while fostering the spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children. The Lead Teacher collaborates with staff and engages with families, ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning community.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development:
- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with Christian values and educational standards.
- Integrate biblical teachings and principles into daily activities and instructional practices.
Child Development:
- Monitor and assess children's development and learning progress.
- Provide individualized support to meet the diverse needs of each child.
Classroom Management:
- Create a safe, welcoming, and organized classroom environment.
- Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines to promote positive behavior and social skills.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Lead and mentor assistant teachers and support staff in educational practices and daily operations.
- Facilitate team meetings and professional development opportunities.
Family Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication and involvement in their child’s education.
- Offer resources and support to help parents reinforce learning at home.
Faith Integration:
- Model Christian values in interactions with children, families, and staff.
- Plan and lead daily activities that incorporate prayer, worship, and biblical stories.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure a clean and safe learning environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Administer first aid as necessary and maintain records of student health and safety.
- Complete basic cleaning as needed in classroom at the end of the day
Professional Development:
- Stay current with early childhood education best practices and state licensing requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a preschool or daycare setting, with leadership experience highly desirable.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and Christian education philosophy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to nurture a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Work Environment: This position requires a balance of indoor and outdoor work. The Pre-K Teacher will interact with children, families, and staff throughout the day.
