Your role: guide an on-site NYC Pre-K classroom that genuinely enjoys school while demonstrating accelerated early development: approximately 2x the outcomes of conventional preschool programs. You'll create purposeful, sensory-driven play experiences that integrate developmental objectives, then track progress on a weekly basis and adapt rapidly for individual children.

What You Will Be Doing

• Plan and lead 30–60 minute play-centered learning sessions that foster joy, emotional security, and quantifiable developmental progress
• Build a classroom environment rich in movement and sensory opportunities that sustains high engagement and enables four-year-olds to learn across diverse modalities
• Conduct real-time observation and documentation: Record same-day, evidence-based notes aligned to developmental domains, then refresh each child's milestone tracking weekly
• Apply data to inform teaching: Review weekly documentation to pinpoint each child's next developmental challenge and design responsive instructional strategies
• Create personalized, interest-driven activity modifications tailored to individual children, integrate one specific developmental target, and reassess effectiveness within two weeks
• Support children through challenging moments using composed co-regulation and emotional guidance instead of reactive behavior management
• Share student progress, classroom routines, and developing concerns transparently and proactively with families

• Approach PreK as custodial care instead of purposeful early education
• Default to scripted worksheets or compliance-focused instruction as your primary teaching method
• Spend most of your time overseeing academic applications rather than facilitating live, tactile learning experiences

Pre-K Teacher Key Responsibilities

Ensure NYC Pre-K children develop a love for school while exhibiting accelerated early-learning advancement through purposeful play.

Basic Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, OR CDA/Montessori/Reggio credential
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with 3–5-year-olds in a structured group setting (classroom, not solely one-on-one care)
• Documented success leading play-based learning that produces visible developmental advancement
• Confirmed capacity to record developmental milestones objectively and reliably on a weekly schedule using a structured framework or rubric
• Exceptional relationship-building and emotional sensitivity: Capacity to establish trust rapidly, interpret emotional signals precisely, and apply personalized motivators to activate engagement
• Co-regulation and frustration support: Support children through emotional intensity using calm demonstration and systematic emotional coaching
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
