If so, our Medical Scribe position could be the perfect opportunity for you! Dr. Joseph Hegarty of Colorado Springs Ear Associates (www.springsear.com) is looking for a college graduate eager to gain valuable experience in the medical field before taking the next step in their healthcare journey. At Colorado Springs Ear Associates, you be embedded in all aspects of a medical practice, including diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and practice management. In this sub-specialty ENT practice, you'll be exposed to a wide array of conditions, from common ear related issues to rare syndromes and congenital disorders affecting the hearing and balance systems.

In this role, you'll work closely with Dr. Hegarty and PA Allison Thompson during patient office visits, gaining invaluable clinical experience that has helped launch the medical careers of our past employees. Providers will help you prepare for professional school interviews and write strong letters of recommendation for applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for patient visits by reviewing medical histories, imaging, and lab results.
  • Develop interval histories, treatment plans, and diagnoses for each patient encounter.
  • Assist Dr. Hegarty and PA Thompson with office procedures/surgeries.
  • Address patient inquiries regarding their care during the office visit.
  • Coordinate surgery scheduling and manage post-operative care.
  • Accurately transcribe patient encounters, including history, physical examinations, and treatment plans into our EHR.
  • Learn how to enter accurate billing and diagnosis codes.
  • Assist with answering medically related patient phone calls/messages.
  • Support the healthcare team in various administrative tasks as needed.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent college graduate with an interest in a career in medicine.
  • Comfortable using computers, especially with Mac OS.
  • An excellent communicator with a compassionate and understanding demeanor, able to work comfortably with patients.
  • Excellent typing skills with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Bright, energetic, and highly motivated to succeed.
  • The position requires availability to start by June 1, 2026.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM with a one-hour lunch break. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position offering comprehensive benefits. Compensation includes a competitive salary, medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, and support with professional school applications and reference letters.
