Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Pre-Press & Machine Operator to join our production team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and creative sides of print production — from preparing artwork and layouts for print to operating large-format printers and finishing equipment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Adobe Illustrator, a strong understanding of pre-press setup, and familiarity with wide-format printing and finishing equipment.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENT
Candidates MUST have hands-on experience operating a Colex Sharpcut CNC. Applications without this experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Pre-Press Production
- Prepare artwork and designs into print-ready files, including registration marks, cut lines, bleeds, and print specifications.
Machine Operation
- Operate and maintain a variety of printing and finishing equipment, including:
- Roland Printers using VersaWorks software
- HP R1000 Printer using Onyx software
- Colex Flatbed Cutter
- Load, run, and monitor print jobs to ensure quality and consistency.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of machines as needed.
- Coordinate with production staff to prioritize and complete jobs on schedule.
Hybrid Responsibilities
- Assist in both digital production and hands-on fabrication when required.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless workflow from file prep to final output.
- Review client-supplied files for accuracy, resolution, and print readiness.
- Set up and format artwork layouts, installation guides, and graphic templates.
- Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure all files meet job requirements and quality standards.
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator and read Fusion models to ensure proper scale and setup.
Skills
- Experience in pre-press production and digital print setup required.
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and knowledge of Onyx and VersaWorks RIP software preferred.
- Understanding of print production workflows, color management, and material types.
- Ability to read Fusion 360 or similar 3D model files a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in both office and shop-floor environments.
