The Pre-Press Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting pre-press files at job initiation, throughout development, and prior to the plate-making stage to ensure all files are accurate, error-free, and properly formatted. This includes reviewing customer files, step-and-repeat layouts, and 1-bit TIFF output files to verify they meet all customer packaging specifications and quality standards.
The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. This range is provided to ensure clarity and promote equitable access to employment opportunities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Support and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to all workplace regulations, policies, and safety initiatives, including promptly reporting all first aid incidents, accidents, and potential hazards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in accordance with the 5S program.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and Packaging Engineer on critical projects, timelines, and any potential delays or issues.
- Perform detailed inspections of pre-press production files to verify spelling, text accuracy, ingredient lists, nutrition facts, UPC numbers and sizing, element positioning, and die lines in accordance with customer packaging specifications.
- Inspect pre-press output files (1-bit TIFF) to ensure they meet established quality standards and job requirements, including:
- Verifying output files against the production sheet for:
- Number of colors
- Repeat configuration
- Percent of distortion
- Round across
- Eyespot positioning
- Guideline placement
- Unwind direction
- UPC size
- Bar code reduction
- Line screen
- Color rotation
- Confirming proper trapping and pullback
- Reviewing images for clarity, defects, or imperfections
- Checking dot shape and consistency
- Redirect files to the appropriate personnel for corrections or revisions when issues are identified.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Requires strong grammatic accuracy in English language for proof-reading
