Precision Metrology Inspector (Level II)

Step onto the production floor and you’ll see where your craft meets purpose. As a Level II Precision Metrology Inspector at Tecomet, your day begins with a handoff from production, a queue of incoming materials, and a plan to safeguard quality from first piece through final shipment.

What you’ll do in a typical day

  • Kick off with first-piece checks, validating critical dimensions and appearance against customer and company specifications.
  • Rotate through incoming, in-process, and final inspections, documenting results and flagging potential nonconformances early.
  • Tackle tight-tolerance work on machined and manufactured components, including complex precision parts and assemblies.
  • Operate and interpret readings from comparators, toolmaker microscopes, contour readers, and other precision instruments.
  • Review drawings, prints, and specifications to verify dimensional requirements and determine acceptance or rejection.
  • Record inspection data, complete inspection paperwork, issue accept/reject tags, and prepare shipping documentation.
  • Collaborate with production and notify shop and area supervisors when results fall outside customer requirements.
  • Follow sampling plans or full-inspection guidance as required; maintain accurate records and traceability.
  • Keep the workspace orderly, move materials as needed, and uphold company rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Pitch in with related tasks and other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience as a quality inspector
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Solid math aptitude and comfort working with complex drawings, specifications, and precision instruments
  • Clear communication, strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

Work setting and physical demands

You’ll work in a manufacturing environment and partner closely with production teams to ensure product quality. The role involves frequent walking; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and speaking or hearing. You may also sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. On occasion, you may lift or move up to 50 pounds. Vision needs include close, distance, and peripheral vision, plus the ability to adjust focus. Travel: N/A.
