Duties:
- Verify the patient has followed preoperative instructions and ensure belongings are securely stored or given to their escort.
- Obtain baseline vital signs, pain assessment, and ECG monitoring if needed, and notify relevant staff of abnormal values.
- Review the medical record for H&P, allergies, signed consent, and lab results; report any abnormal findings.
- Carry out any physician's orders that have not been completed.
- Validate the patient's procedure and site, resolving discrepancies with the physician before anesthesia induction.
- Administer preoperative medications, documenting the details in the patient’s chart.
- Start patient education and discharge planning.
- Maintain supply levels, check expiration dates, and conduct narcotic counts with another RN.
- Keep all equipment and supply areas clean and organized.
- Familiarize yourself with the location and usage of all equipment and supplies, especially emergency items.
- Maintain asepsis, infection control, and safety practices to minimize infections.
- Document and report information accurately and promptly.
- Follow all Center policies and procedures.
- Adjust to the director of nursing's schedule, including overtime or time changes.
- Be willing to cross-train and assist in other departments when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Licensed registered professional nurse (RN).
- Perioperative nursing experience preferred.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Current IV certification from an approved facility preferred.
- Language skills: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively both written and orally.

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
