Job Summary
The Village Pub, located inside the historic Victorian Inn in Ferndale, CA is dedicated to serving simple, delicious food that is inspired by pubs and bistros all over the world. We are looking for an experienced prep/line cook to join our dinner team. This person will collaborate closely with the Chef de Cuisine and current kitchen team to prep for and execute dinner service.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. You will play a vital role in meal preparation, ensuring that all ingredients and recipes are prepped and ready for use on the line. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to food safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Above all, we are looking for team members who bring a positive and joyful attitude to their work and can integrate into the positive kitchen culture we have created.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and execute dinner service.
  • Collaborate with other prep cooks.
  • Contribute to other kitchen tasks as assigned by the CdC.
  • Prepare ingredients and bulk recipes for various dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations and storage.
  • Adhere to food safety guidelines and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives, slicers, and food processors.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.

Skills

  • Ability to work Thursday - Monday, 2:00 - 9:00.
  • Must have valid, unexpired ServSafe certificate.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Efficient knife skills and familiarity with various cooking methods.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing menus or dietary requirements.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
