Prepress Graphic Art Technician

Overview of the Position

The position of Prepress / Production Art Artisan is a full time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Using various computer software products, the Artisan is responsible for preparing digital files for printing by creating proper format, appearance and layout of text and images used to mass produce interior signs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Consistently create and perform customer focused practices, maintaining quality workmanship at all times.
• Work respectfully and cooperatively with artisans, leads and management, with a goal to create positive working relationships.
• Communicate positively and effectively with others in this department, other departments and your supervisor to ensure orders are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Establish and maintain an acceptable attendance record, reporting to work on time and as scheduled.
• Utilize 4D database system to locate appropriate job templates.
• Import print and electronic files into specialized software, making color, text and digital image corrections as needed for the desired outcome.
• Cartography experience also desirable.
• Proof the work and make final corrections before sending the image file to print production.

Qualification requirements:

Artisan should have a good work history with prior experience in Pre Press Production Art. Artisan must possess good organizational skills, the ability to read and interpret orders, read rulers and color match custom colors. Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator are required. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Education and/or experience:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of graphic design education or experience.
• Prior experience or education using Adobe Illustrator.
• Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required.
