Prepress Graphic Designer

Position: Prepress Graphic Designer - on-site in Lenexa, KS

Experience Preferred: 2+ years in commercial print

Skills Needed:

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Solid understanding of print production processes and file setup requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Clear communication skills and team-oriented mindset

Key Responsibilities:

The Prepress Graphic Designer is responsible for creating customer artwork and preparing accurate, print-ready files for production. This role combines creative design execution with technical prepress expertise to ensure all projects meet brand standards, print specifications, and production requirements.

  • Design customer artwork based on creative briefs, brand guidelines, and client input
  • Develop layout concepts for signage, print materials, and branded environments
  • Make revisions and adjustments based on client or internal feedback
  • Ensure brand consistency across all deliverables
  • Prepare production-ready files for various print processes (digital, large format, etc.)
  • Set up files with proper bleeds, trims, safe areas, resolution, and color profiles
  • Convert files to correct color modes (CMYK) and ensure color accuracy
  • Check and correct fonts, linked images, transparencies, overprints, and dielines
  • Create print-ready PDFs and production mockups
  • Review incoming client files for technical issues and resolve as needed
  • Generate and update digital proofs for client approval
  • Perform detailed quality checks before releasing files to production
  • Verify measurements, scaling, material specs, and finishing requirements
  • Maintain organized file structures and version control
  • Communicate proactively with Project Managers and Production regarding specs and deadlines
  • Support workflow efficiency and continuous improvement within the design department
  • Stay current on industry best practices, software updates, and print production standards

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
