Prepress Technician & Graphic Designer

Job Overview
Immediate job opening: Prepress Technician and Graphic Designer.

Pulp is looking to hire a new prepress employee with experience in graphic design. We are seeking a long-term hire who is hoping to stay with our company for years to come. Our company offers both traditional offset and digital printing for a wide variety of custom printing services, so we are looking for someone with a willingness to learn about our unique production processes. The position involves working with our production staff, internal salespeople, and directly with customers to solve issues that may arise during print production.

Responsibilities

• Learning Pulp’s printing workflow to understand traditional offset print, digital printing, mailing, and bindery/finishing operations.
• Reviewing and organizing customer file submissions, preparing physical press proofs, and communicating with customers over phone and e-mail on proof/project revisions.
• Setting up jobs for the press - previous printing experience is encouraged but not required, new hires must take initiative to learn our processes.
• Working with Adobe InDesign primarily, as well as Photoshop and Acrobat.
• Staying organized as new tasks come in throughout the day and learning to prioritize workload. Almost all orders we print are customized, so workload varies day-to-day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with graphic design and layout of multi-page documents, such as catalogs and brochures utilizing Adobe InDesign or comparable software.
• Must be proficient with Windows and Mac operating systems. Our prepress technicians use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop daily. Basic use of Excel is also required when we have jobs that utilize mailing lists.
• Strong communication skills over the phone and via e-mail.
• Print industry experience is not required but is encouraged; you will be fully trained in our workflow. This includes learning printing impositions, working in Adobe applications, and utilizing Dropbox for file management.

Hours and Pay:

• 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Mon-Fri, hours can vary slightly)
• Starting hourly pay: $15.00 - $20.00 (depending on experience)
• Paid vacation and select holidays
