Preschool - 8th Music Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Preschool through 8th Grade Music Teacher to inspire a love of music and foster musical development across a diverse student body. In this role, you will design engaging, age-appropriate music curricula that promote creativity, teamwork, and cultural awareness. You will create a vibrant classroom environment where students develop their musical skills, confidence, and appreciation for the arts. Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive music curricula tailored to preschool through 8th-grade students, incorporating elements of childhood development, literacy education, math, and social-emotional learning.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that utilize various teaching methods, including hands-on activities and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Foster a positive classroom atmosphere through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies that encourage participation and respect.
  • Track student progress, and facilitate communication with students and parents.
  • Adapt instructional strategies for students with disabilities or special education needs, ensuring accessibility and inclusive participation in all activities.
  • Prepare students for performances, assessments, and standardized testing related to music education while providing tutoring or extra support as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development initiatives such as library services integration or Montessori-inspired approaches to enrich the overall educational experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Childhood Development, or a related field; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Proven classroom experience working with children from preschool through middle school levels in private school or Montessori settings.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development principles, lesson planning, literacy education, math integration, and behavior management techniques.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special education needs; familiarity with inclusive teaching practices is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with learning technology tools, LMS platforms, and digital resources to support interactive lessons and student engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
  • Knowledge of standardized testing procedures relevant to music or general academic assessments; ability to prepare students accordingly.
