Part-Time, M-F, 12:00pm-6:00pm | Early Learning Department (Preschool)

The Cross Lanes YMCA Child Development Center is currently seeking Assistant Teachers to join our team! If you have a passion for Early Childhood Education, value teamwork, and want to make a difference every day, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Role

As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in:

• Creating a safe, nurturing, and caring learning environment
• Supporting classroom instruction and activities under the direction of a Lead Teacher
• Building strong, positive relationships with children and families
• Assisting with daily routines such as meals, rest time, and playtime
• Encouraging healthy development through patience, creativity, and fun

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking caring, dependable, and energetic individuals who have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent (required)
• At least one year of relevant child care experience
• A nurturing, patient, and flexible personality
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A passion for helping children grow and learn

Additional requirements include: possess a valid driver’s license, maintain a current CPR/First Aid Certification, pass all required background checks (including sex offender registry), have a negative reaction to a TB test, supply a recent health assessment signed by a licensed physician and performed not more than ninety (90) days prior to the date hired, register and maintain a WV STARS credential and complete a minimum of 18 hours in approved staff development and training per calendar year, maintain a current Food Handlers card, complete Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention training annually, and complete all other requirements deemed necessary by Cross Lanes YMCA Child Development Center, YMCA of Kanawha Valley, WV DHHR Department of Children and Families, etc.

Typical Shift

• Monday–Friday, 12:00pm–6:00pm
• Approximately 30 hours per week
