PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The J Center for Early Learning is a Reggio-inspired preschool serving children 12- months old through kindergarten. We promote experiences that build a child’s relationship with the natural world and use of materials as “languages” of expression.

At The J, learning is a joint venture between children and teachers, using project-based methods and providing children with many materials to express and represent their thinking. Our teachers passionately support children’s play, exploration, inquiry, and creative/critical thinking. If you are interested in an enriching teaching experience, please apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our lead and assistant teachers help create democratic, creative environments in which meaningful learning and personal growth are fostered through a variety of learning experiences. Teachers develop engaging classroom environments, document observations, and plan and implement lessons and projects. Duties include but are not limited to:

· Creating an effective environment for learning through daily provocations and invitations, intentional presentation of materials centered around hands-on learning opportunities, and documentation

· Developing project work arising out of thoughtful reflection on student interests

· Working with students in a democratic fashion, modeling good citizenship, critical and creative thinking and responsibility as a classroom and school community member,

· Providing opportunities for individual and small group investigation and skill-building,

· Demonstrating working knowledge of child development ages and stages relevant to students in your class,

· Communicating well with parents.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

An AA or BA is preferred in early childhood or a related field

2 years of teaching experience preferred

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

HOURS: 8:00-2:30
