PRESCHOOL ASSISTANT/AFTERCARE TEACHER

Come join the JCA Goldman Family Preschool! We are currently hiring for one Full-Time assistant educator/Aftercare Coordinator Teacher to join our Preschool team! The position works in both of our preschool classrooms with multi age 3-5 and will colead the aftercare program. Candidate must have experience leading and flexibility working with ages 3-5 year olds for group play, curriculum planning, experience implementing positive behavior strategies and combined small and large group activities. This position begins as soon as May 1, 2026. Some orientation and training hours will be included during first few weeks of employment.

Candidates must be available M-F 5 days a week, M-TH shifts weekly 9:30-5pm and F 8:30-4:30pm. We are seeking candidates who work collaboratively in a co team model, are open-minded, flexible, and with strong classroom management, interpersonal skills and leadership skills to coordinate for the Aftercare program and plan activities.

A monthly teacher bonus supplemental salary pay currently applies to this position and that supplemental pay is determined based on requirements set by the state. Teachers will be required to join the MRTQ Registry and update training for health and safety to qualify.

Program and Position Information:

We are a NAEYC accredited program. Through the 'High Scope' curriculum, combined with a Reggio Emilia approach, we offer child-centered, family-oriented programs for 6 weeks old to 5 years old. Our curriculum exposes children to a broad range of experiences, including meaningful Jewish cultural exploration. Educated and trained professionals bring deep commitment and a love of children to our classrooms. We foster a child's natural instincts and curiosity by providing a nurturing, comfortable, joyful and developmentally appropriate environment.

This lead aftercare role includes assisting between our preschool cohort rooms during the day then leading the aftercare program in the afternoon. We are seeking a Lead Aftercare Teacher to serve as an integral part of our team. This role is perfect for an experienced early childhood educator who enjoys being in the classroom but is looking to take on part-time leadership during the second half of the day. The primary responsibility is assistant teacher with Aftercarwith additional opportunities to lead and support curriculum implementation and planning during aftercare hours each day. This role provides a unique opportunity to take on 8-10 hours of leadership a week integrated with the coteacher and lead position.

Schedule and Responsibilities:

Hours during the Summer and School Calendar Year will be full-time Monday-Friday with 8 hour shifts. Shifts are based on the enrollment and needs of the program. This position is year round and includes working 6-8 weeks of the summer camp, gets 15-20 vacation days (15 during school year when the program is closed, 5 at the end of summer camp) is hourly and includes requirements for staff to attend monthly teacher meetings, planning time with their team, some school year special events, and all staff professional development days.

  • Lead an engaging, developmentally appropriate classroom using RNA curriculum
  • Create a positive, organized, and nurturing learning environment
  • Partner with families through strong communication and daily updates
  • Support curriculum consistency and classroom excellence across the building
  • Assist with licensing compliance and operational flow
  • Work with children between ages 2.7-5 years old indoor and outdoor spaces and joining for woods walks, neighborhood strolls, and field trips.
  • Provide an engaging, safe, and nurturing learning environment, bringing new ideas for activities to engage young children
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
  • Maintain the health and safety of all students

Other required skills:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred
  • CDA or professional certification considered
  • 3 to 5 years of classroom experience with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of child development and early learning best practices
  • Confident communicator who enjoys mentoring and collaborating
  • Knowledge of state licensing regulations
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain
  • A positive, solution oriented mindset and genuine love for working with children
  • Previous experience working with groups of children and in early childhood preschool environments required.
  • Passionate about working with children in a variety of settings inside and outside.
  • The candidate must be energetic, positive, patient, and flexible demeanor and ready to have fun!
  • Experience using family apps or ability and willingness to learn
  • Ability to be outside in all kinds of weather for extended periods of time to support building resiliency for all types of weather
  • Ability to build strong connections with children and thier families.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and experience in positive behavior management strategies

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
