Preschool Director

Owensboro Catholic Schools is seeking a Preschool Director. The ideal candidate will be energetic, well-organized, and skilled at problem-solving, with strong written and verbal communication abilities. A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting early childhood education is essential, as well as a strong background in behavioral intervention to oversee and enrich the educational experience of our youngest learners. The Preschool Director will provide leadership, vision, and direction for the early childhood program. This individual will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, and the community to support the social, emotional, and academic development of young children.
Education, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Child Development, or a related area is preferred, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with preschool experience. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Manages all aspects of preschool operations, including staff supervision and development, budgeting and financial oversight, licensing compliance, and administrative functions.
  • At least three years of leadership or management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrates and models Catholic values through actions and service.
  • Must be able to recognize and address important challenges effectively.
  • Exhibits self-motivation, strong organizational abilities, and effective time management, along with knowledge of state licensing regulations.
  • Fosters a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
  • Supervises and mentors early childhood educators, providing professional development
opportunities focused on best practices in early learning and behavioral intervention.
  • Collaborates with parents, faculty, and staff to create individual learning plans and
behavioral intervention strategies for children in need of additional support.
  • Oversees the assessment and tracking of students' progress, including social-emotional
and behavioral development.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based behavioral intervention plans for students with
challenging behaviors or learning differences.
  • Fosters a strong sense of community by building positive relationships with students,
parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of child development including social, emotional, cognitive,
and behavioral milestones.
The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check and complete safe environment training for the Diocese of Owensboro before employment can be granted.
