Preschool Director (Head Start Site Manager)

The Site Manager is responsible for oversight of Head Start/Early Head Start Center’s daily operations, including ensuring compliance with all established standards required to assure a high-quality early education program. Child Development Managers are the facilities’ top manager. Additionally, this staff person provides educator support, monitors teacher performance, ensures robust family engagement, and effective classroom management and the implementation of age-appropriate practices.

Duties

  • Lead the implementation of curriculum and lesson plans that support early childhood development and learning standards.
  • Manage daily operations of the preschool site, ensuring adherence to Head Start performance standards and organizational policies.
  • Supervise teaching staff, providing mentorship, conducting evaluations, and supporting professional growth initiatives.
  • Oversee program budgeting to sustain and expand quality services.
  • Build strong relationships with families through effective communication, parent engagement activities, and community outreach.
  • Work in classrooms supervising and supporting teachers on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in education administration or management within early childhood or preschool settings.
  • Extensive classroom teaching experience with young children, demonstrating a deep understanding of early childhood development principles.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of supervising staff and managing teams effectively.
  • Expertise in curriculum development tailored to diverse learner needs and developmental stages.
  • Experience in budgeting, strategic planning, fundraising, and resource management.
  • Knowledge of Head Start regulations, federal funding requirements, and education policies is highly desirable.
  • Associates' degree, or higher, in Early Childhood Education, Education Administration or related field; advanced degrees preferred.

Full-Time; FLSA Exempt Position. Typically 40-45 hours per week.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
