Preschool Floater Teacher

The Purple Crayon is located in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn and is seeking a teacher who will be a floater teacher to help out in classrooms as needed during the day and substitute when teachers are absent. The position will start as a part time position with 25-30 hours.

Qualifications:

• MUST love being around and playing with children!
• Bachelor degree relating to early childhood education OR Pursuing a bachelor degree relating to early childhood or music education
• Minimum 2+ years working with young children in a classroom setting
• Ability to thrive in different environments with possible varying schedules each day
• Able to manage and teach a class of 10-18 children ages 2-4
• Warm, responsible, and dedicated team player who like to interact and communicate with young children in the context of a creative, play-based curriculum.
• Must be able to provide references from most recent and current employer
• Fingerprinted by the Department of Investigation through IdentoGo
• Child Abuse Identification Training certification
• Infectious Disease Control Training certification

Responsibilities:

• Float into various classrooms in center as an assistant teacher or to provide coverage to ensure the required teacher to children ratio is maintained.
• Interact with children in activities in an appropriate manner
• Assist children with daily self-help skills
• Assist teachers in the room with tasks as needed
• Assist with office/administrative work as needed
• Assist with the decorating of the center for various occasions during the year
• Assist with conducting school events

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
