Job Title: Part-Time to Full-Time Daycare Lead Teacher

Job Description: The Early Child Care Lead Teacher is the Leader of the classroom. The Teacher will report to the Director and/or Director Assistant. The Lead Teacher will follow the curriculum, daily classroom schedule, and activities in support of creating an environment conducive to learning and the development of physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities. The ideal candidate must be flexible and open to providing assistance to all areas and age groups, depending on the needs of the center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must meet the basic requirements of child care regulatory agency to maintain a safe environment for children.
  • Ability to relate positively with young children.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost self-control, patience, and exhibit a positive tone and behavior with children in our care.
  • Responsible for the daily cleanliness, management, and supervision of the classroom and children.
  • Lesson planning, as needed, with support and supervision from the director.
  • Classroom management: the ideal candidate must have the ability to effectively manage and supervise young children, the classroom, and any activities effectively.
  • Provide assessments on developmental growth, academic milestones, and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, assessments, and attendance reports.
  • Preparing and implementing classroom lesson plans, programs, activities, and schedules.
  • Assists children with meal times, clean-up, potty training, diaper changing, and associated clean-up.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in the workplace. The ideal candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with students, parents, and others effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and be able to make quick decisions in emergency situations. In addition, the ideal person will need to be able to make good sound judgement to know when to notify supervisors of anything that merits their attention.
  • Knowledge about the social, emotional and developmental needs of young children based on education, past work experience, or as a parent or caretaker of a child.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, Saturday training, and center events, as required.
  • Must be flexible & adapt to different environments and situations.
  • Provide transportation to and from local elementary schools to drop off and pick up our children (if eligible).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED is a minimum requirement; Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) or higher is preferred.
  • Demonstrate highly effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in classroom management , curriculum, and lesson planning (preferred).
  • Clear background history, applicant must be able to pass all FBI Criminal, Department of Public Safety, and State Childcare Licensing Background Checks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a team player, a team builder, and committed to professional development.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
  • Must have the physical stamina to bend, stand, sit on the floor, etc. to be at eye level with children and to participate in floor activities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and good work ethic at all times.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stress.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid
