Preschool Lead Teacher - 2s Class

The Children’s Place Preschool began as a Mother’s Day Out program at First Presbyterian Church. The school came to St. Andrew in 1995 as a mission of the church. The goal of the school is to provide a safe and nurturing environment with focus on the whole child.

​Areas of physical, cognitive, social and emotional development are recognized on an individual basis, and provisions for those needs are met through research-based activities in music, art, dramatic play, science discoveries, fine and gross motor security, and a genuine interest in each child. Open Position - Lead Teacher: Two's Class

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our team! The hours for this position will be between 26-30 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a passion for childhood development and educating young children in a nurturing environment.

Duties:

  • The teacher will be responsible for the classroom, the curriculum, and the children assigned to the teacher.
  • The teacher will be accountable to the director.
  • The teacher will:
  • Develop a schedule and a curriculum to fit the needs of the children.
  • Assess child’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills on an ongoing basis.
  • Hold two parent conferences a year (Fall and Spring).
  • Maintain developmental records.
  • Work in association with the rest of the staff.
  • Inform the director about needed equipment, supplies and repairs.
  • Use positive discipline techniques.
  • Attend called staff meetings.
  • Attend other events for professional development and complete no less than the 24 hours required by state minimum standards for childcare centers.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Attend school-sponsored events.
  • Communicate and provide copies of lesson plans to parents and director
  • Maintain state minimum standards for childcare centers under the supervision of the director.
  • Communicate with parents as needed or requested.
  • Assist in staffing additional daily educational programing, for example Stay & Play and Book Club, as coordinated by the Director.

Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or higher with 12 college credits (semester hours) in early childhood education/child development.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in teaching, or working with children, in an early childhood educational setting is preferred,
