Preschool Teacher

Jack and Jill Playschool is located in Yuba City, California. Jack and Jill is a co-op playschool that uses a wide variety of curriculum that is taught with the art of play to teach the basics needed for kindergarten.

Teacher Job Description Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.

· Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene and social skills.

· Incorporate reading books into the curriculum.

· Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.

· Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development such as games, art and crafts, music, storytelling and field trips.

· Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development and physical health.

· Meet with parent(s)/guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.

· Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.

· No prep work shall be done during school hours.

· Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

· Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicate those objectives to children.

· Arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities and safety.

· Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate.

· Propose a detailed monthly teaching plan to the Board of Directors at each board meeting the prior month.

· Organize and label materials and display student's work in a manner appropriate for their ages and perceptual skills.

· Attend professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence as you or board may see fit.

· Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curriculum.

· Plan and supervise class projects, visits by guests or other experiential activities and guide students in learning for those activities

· Select, organize, issue and invent classroom equipment, materials and supplies as assisted by other staff members and board members.

· Work cooperatively as a team with all staff members and board members to enhance existing curriculum and develop new strategies in an ever growing and dynamic population within and beyond Jack and Jill Playschool.

· Be a mentor, resource and role model for the families at Jack and Jill Playschool.

Hours:

8:30am - 1:00pm all Student Attendance Days.

60 hours prior to the first day of the school year.

30 hours after the last day of the school year.

A minimum of 6 hours for fundraising events.

A minimum of 6 hours for graduation.

1-2 hours for each monthly board meeting.

Minimum Requirements:

12 units ECE/CD including core courses

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• ECE units (minimum of 12 including CORE) (Preferred)
• Child Development Associate Certification or (Preferred)
