Preschool Teacher

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Support the effectiveness of the Sonshine Daycare curriculum by providing care and supervision to the children and reflect the values and purpose of a Christ-centered program

ACCOUNTABILITY
Reports directly to Sonshine Kids Director and cooperates with guidance and instruction from the Daycare Floater and Assistant

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Must be 18 years of age and High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Meet state and federal requirements for this position
• Courses in Early Childhood Education preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and action towards others and support the FUMC mission
• 1+ years experience in working with pre-school children
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift 40 pounds

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Give full attention to assigned group of children and be responsible for their safety and well-being.
• Attend staff and training programs as deemed necessary by the Director
• Maintain compliance with state licensing requirements
• Reinforce and encourage positive qualities in children
• Supervise the play time and play area and guide the children in safe play activities. Organize and participate in organized game indoors and outdoors.
• Instructing children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting and toilet habits.
• Reading to children and supporting curriculum objectives for that classroom.
• Know the procedures for emergency situations in the daycare.
• Know and comply with daycare policies for attendance, cell phones, and performance expectations.
• Complete duties effectively and promptly.
• Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any assigned duty or schedule.
• Understand child abuse and neglect laws and procedures for reporting
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervision.

Pay: $13.75 - $15.00 per hour
