Preschool Teacher

MUST have prior teaching experience.

Work hours 7am-4pm. This is a Floating Teacher position that will lead to a teaching position in the coming months.

Benefits: Paid Holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, MLK, Jr. Day, Good Friday), 2 Floating holidays and an accrual based PTO plan which could earn 40+ paid hours off per year.

$15.50/hr to start as a floater, when you become a teacher it increases every 3 months up to $16/hr. After one year increases to $16.75/hr, at 3 years $17.25, and at 5 years $17.75.

Christian Center with children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. We work with the Maryville City and Blount County school calendar which offers several unpaid breaks throughout the year. 5 day Fall break, 3 day Thanksgiving break, 2 week Christmas break, 1 week Spring Break, 2 week Summer Break the end of May/beginning of June. Summer is a limited schedule of T, W, Th 6 weeks during summer with a week off during July 4th.

We have an outstanding group of teachers and many of our children are from parents who attended here as children themselves. Must strive to encourage every child to explore their world and their own capabilities, be reliable, enjoy working with others, and be a positive resource.

Minimum requirements per State licensing guidelines:

At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or a GED

Background check

Physical Health screening (not reimbursed), must be able to lift at least 40 lbs, and mentally capable of working with children.

Approximately 13 hours of online courses before hiring and continuous education required (provided free of charge)

Must obtain Adult, Child, Infant CPR and First Aid Training within 120 days. (free of charge)

Additionally:

Demonstrate professional habits and comply with all licensing guidelines, including accurate records and forms.

Be prepared to lead children in prayer and teach biblical principals.

Be able to work independently in a classroom setting and following classroom schedule.

Able to sit on ground and get up and down from floor frequently.

Able to design/implement a TNELDS lesson plan to address the children’s developmental needs. Literature to help in planning is provided.

Cultivate positive relationships and frequent communication with parents with compassion and knowledge of appropriate expectations of children.

Ensure proper hygiene of children and sanitation of classroom.

Required to work with children of all ages, change diapers, assist with toileting needs, clean bodily fluids, and other tasks as needed.

Must be able to leave personal phone and any media time to breaks only.
