PRESCHOOL TEACHER

MISSION STATEMENT: Legacy Academy partners with Branson area parents to develop truth-grounded, spiritually-formed, culturally-transforming Christ followers by classically cultivating affections for the True, Good, and Beautiful.

JOB SUMMARY:

The essential purpose of Legacy Preschool Teacher is to provide a nurturing, safe and loving environment that cultivates the virtues of personal responsibility and self-control. Director supervisor is Preschool Director; thus, this includes performing duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Preschool Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a professing “born again” Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and who is growing in Christ (John 3:3, Hebrews 6:1).

Accepts without reservations the Legacy Statement of Faith and is committed to upholding it.

Faithfully attends a local church whose fundamental beliefs agree with the Legacy Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Gives testimony that he/she has a sense of God’s will, that teaching as a minister is his/her calling, and that teaching at Legacy Academy is God’s direction for him/her (Romans 12:2).

Accepts and affirms without reservations and will support the educational philosophy and policies of Legacy Academy, as endorsed by the Board of Education and will work conscientiously to carry out the mission, goals, and objectives of Legacy Academy.

Acknowledges and agrees to remain fully committed to the pursuit of a lifestyle, on and off the job, consistent with the mission and vision of Legacy, compatible with historical biblical standards of morality, reflecting the message, mission, and character of Jesus Christ. Manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living (1 Peter 2:11-12). This includes avoiding “gross misconduct” which includes but is not limited to

a. the use of illicit drugs,

b. drunkenness and/or impaired judgment due to excessive use of alcohol and/or prescription drugs,

c. any form of sexual immorality as defined by Scripture which includes any sexual behavior outside the bounds of biblical marriage, which includes the use of pornography (1 Thessalonians 4:3),

d. deviation from the unique roles of male and female as clearly defined in Scripture, such as dressing and using facilities not in conformance with one’s biological sex (Genesis 5:1-2),

e. the use of profane language as defined by the Board of Education, and

f. anything that violates the tenets of Scripture as exclusively defined and interpreted by the Board (Colossians 3:8, Exodus 20:7).

Clear criminal background check required

Bachelor's degree or higher preferred

Previous experience with young children required

Freedom of physical impairments that would hinder lifting children or the ability to perform normal classroom responsibilities required

At least 18 years of age required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, social and spiritual needs of both the individual and the group in accordance with the policies of Legacy Preschool.

Interact with the children and encourage them with involvement in learning activities.

Keep the classroom environment clean, neat and in an orderly fashion in which the children can learn and explore.

Maintain a sub folder with a project and all pertinent information that is needed for them to be successful in the classroom.

Observe and report any significant individual behaviors and report them to the director.

Use appropriate, consistent and positive discipline.

Communicate information to the director about children, parents, programs, goals, individual class rules and class needs.

Attend staff meetings and other required meeting i.e. CPR classes, Appreciation Day and other scheduled events.

Request new equipment and classroom supplies as needed.

Post daily on Brightwheel and also send out weekly messages. Engage with parents appropriately and respond to messages during nap time.

Schedule all vacation and doctor appointments with the director in advance..

Speak with the director to discuss any continual problems that may occur with a child. Avoid discussing a child’s behavior with a parent upon their arrival. Specific problems need to be addressed in private and in a non-hurried atmosphere.

Each parent and child should receive a personal greeting upon arrival.

Personally minister to parents, children, and other staff members with a caring compassionate heart.

Closely monitor each child upon their arrival to determine if there is a medical or physical reason the child should not remain in the center for the day.

Keep all toys and equipment clean and in good condition. Toys and equipment should be sterilized with Gtech.

Fill out accident reports and place them on the director’s desk.

Inform director of any sick children in the classroom. Also alert the director if a child has been absent for several days.

Maintain a clean room, neat cabinets, and closets at all times. Teachers are responsible for all areas above the floor and pulling trash at the end of the day.

Teachers are responsible for changing their bulletin boards on a regular basis.

Never leave your class unattended. This will be a means for immediate dismissal.

Appropriate use of technology - utilizing provided resources for teaching and entertainment where allowed.

Develop and implement a curriculum that is age appropriate with a Godly worldview that is aligned with Legacy’s vision and mission.

Limit personal use of technology to only when not in direct supervision of children.

Active supervision of children at all times.

Teachers must be with their class when your scheduled time begins. Being late on a regular basis is grounds for dismissal.

When calling in sick, the director or assistant director must receive a phone call by 6:00 a.m. so arrangements can be made to cover your shift. If not, you may need to come in until further arrangements can be made.

FULL-TIME HOURLY:

Monday-Friday, 40-hour week

Aligned with preschool teacher hourly wage schedule

12-month work schedule
