St. Paul’s Day School in Westfield, New Jersey is seeking Lead Teachers for our Full Day preschool program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in the classroom, who loves to work with children, and is eager to join a team of top-notch teachers.

The goal of St. Paul’s Day School is to provide an enriching experience for preschool and kindergarten children. We strive to enhance your child’s emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual and physical growth in a setting of nurturing and love. We encourage individual growth through a variety of developmentally appropriate experiences. Our curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate practices, goals and objectives of preschool and kindergarten children. These activities include music, art, physical play, dramatic play, early science, math and reading skills, and craft projects. Individual progress is stressed as well as learning to cooperate and share in a peer group situation.

This position follows a school-year calendar from September to June, with approximately 162 school days.

*This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred, minimum requirement is a CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.

General Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Age Level Head Teacher, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with school policies
  • Assess children’s development and learning using developmentally appropriate tools to measure student progress; share bi-annual progress reports with families
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each child with concern for each child’s interests, abilities, style and pace of learning; know every child’s strengths and needs
  • Foster each child’s sense of identity, belonging, and citizenship
  • Practice professional ethics in regard to students, parents and staff; treat each child with dignity and respect
  • Communicate regularly with classroom families using newsletters, emails, conversations, and individual touch points; conduct bi-annual family conferences
  • Arrange the classroom to meet the developmental needs of young children
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the staff manual and the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers
