SEEKING: Preschool Teacher PART-TIME (Up to 25-30 hours per week)

Preschool teachers are expected to contribute to the Preschool's overall mission by being committed to nurturing the whole child socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. A developmentally appropriate learning curriculum will be provided. We will continually strive to remain current in early childhood methods. Prayer, Bible stories and activities will be integrated daily. Knowledge of Reggio Amelia influenced and the principles of Project work, a plus. We offer some flexibility in the work schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferred Associate or bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Early Childhood Education degree is preferred, or a CDA.
• Have a personal faith statement.
• Has the ability to interact with young children individually or in a group situation.
• Be certified or willing to be certified in Child Abuse Safety and Neglect, Universal Precautions, CPR, AED, and First Aid.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Submit weekly lesson plans consistent with the purpose and objectives of the OPLC.
• Be responsible for classroom arrangement, appearance, decorations, and tidiness.
• Greet children and parents as they are dropped off and picked up.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Attend monthly staff meetings, team meetings and other meetings as scheduled. Lead songs, on rotation, for Bible Time.

Teaching preschool children is a very physical role. Candidates must be able to lift 25 pounds, respond quickly to sounds, and move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. Candidates must also be able to navigate between standing, sitting, and working on the floor throughout the workday as children often require attention at their level.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Hire date effective mid-August 2024 for school year beginning August 20, 2024 and ending mid-May 2025
• Pay rate = $17.85/per hour – Hours are 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. daily when school is in session
• Projected weekly hours vary upon assigned classroom and schedule
• Employee discount if enrolling employee children in the OPLC preschool
