(GHC ECC) is a private, not-for-profit preschool offering a warm, nurturing, and emotionally supportive environment. Located in the lower level of the Greenburgh Hebrew Center, our program fosters creativity, respect, and a love of learning in young children.

Position Overview

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support our preschool classrooms. The ideal candidate is warm, collaborative, and passionate about early childhood education.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Must arrive by 8:45 AM to greet families and students
• Optional lunch coverage from 12:00 PM–2:00 PM ($30 compensation for those hours)

Key Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision and direction of the Lead Teacher and Director
• Support daily classroom activities and routines
• Treat all children with dignity, patience, and respect
• Provide care and guidance to meet children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs
• Assist with indoor and outdoor supervision
• Help prepare snacks and cooking projects
• Set up learning centers and prepare classroom materials
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
• Assist with toileting/diapering and general housekeeping tasks
• Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is briefly out of the room
• Assist during arrival and dismissal
• Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children
• Warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable and punctual
