Preschool Teacher Assistant

We are currently seeking a qualified Preschool Teacher Assistant for a position Monday through Friday 11am-630pm. Duties will include assisting the lead teacher with daily activities and curriculum as well as classroom management and closing out the classroom. Previous licensed center experience highly preferred. Must have a love for children!

Must have or obtain background clearance prior to working with children. Also will be expected to complete state required coursework online and pass exams related to working with children within the designated time frame. Previous employment in a licensed childcare center highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
• Help guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Qualifications

• Classroom management skills
• Prior experience working with preschool-aged children highly preferred
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with young students
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation practices according to DCF rules and guidelines in a preschool setting
• Ability to implement behavior management techniques in a classroom environment
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
• Certification in child CPR or be willing to obtain after hire
