Preschool Teacher Assistant/Substitute

Wallenpaupack Early Learning Center is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Preschool Teacher Assistant/Substitute to join our growing team.

This position is ideal for college students pursuing education or related fields, retired teachers looking for extra income, or individuals who have a passion for working with children. The successful candidate will assist teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment while supporting daily classroom activities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist lead teachers with daily classroom activities and routines
• Supervise children and ensure their safety at all times
• Support children during learning activities, meals, outdoor play, and transitions
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
• Promote positive behavior and social-emotional development
• Communicate professionally with staff and families
• Provide coverage in different classrooms as needed
• Substitute for staff members when necessary

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with children preferred but not required
• Ability to obtain required childcare clearances
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable, patient, and positive attitude

Schedule:

• Part-Time
• Monday–Friday
• Primary hours: 3:00 PM–6:00 PM
• Additional substitute hours available
• Opportunity for additional hours during school breaks and staff absences

Pay:

• $13.00–$16.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications
