Closers are responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while ensuring the childcare center is properly closed and secured at the end of each day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and care for children in accordance with center policies and state licensing requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Assist children with daily routines, including meals, snacks, restroom needs, and activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s day and any important information.
- Support age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
Closing Duties:
- Ensure all children have been safely picked up by authorized individuals.
- Clean and sanitize toys, tables, learning materials, and high-touch surfaces.
- Sweep, vacuum, and tidy classrooms and common areas as required.
- Restock classroom supplies for the next day.
- Remove trash and replace liners.
- Turn off lights, electronic equipment, and appliances not needed overnight.
- Verify that doors, windows, and gates are secured and locked.
- Complete end-of-day documentation and incident reports, if applicable.
- Set security alarms according to center procedures.
- Perform a final walkthrough of the facility to ensure cleanliness, safety, and security before leaving.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Work Environment:This position requires active engagement with children throughout the day and the ability to complete cleaning and facility-closing duties in the evening to ensure the center is ready for the next business day.
