Preschool Teacher - Floater Part Time (Afternoons)

Building Kidz of New Port Richey is looking for a dependable, flexible, and caring Part-Time Floater Teacher to support classrooms throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, helping teachers, and stepping in wherever support is needed.

Position Summary

The Part-Time Floater Teacher helps maintain a safe, clean, positive, and engaging environment for children across multiple age groups. This person may assist with classroom activities, supervision, transitions, meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, playground supervision, cleaning, and teacher breaks.

Because this role supports different classrooms, the ideal candidate must be flexible, reliable, calm, and willing to jump in wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Assist lead teachers with daily classroom routines and activities.
• Support transitions between classrooms, playground, meals, rest time, and other activities.
• Help maintain proper child-to-staff ratios.
• Engage with children at their level through play, conversation, redirection, and positive guidance.
• Use a calm, respectful, and affectionate tone with children.
• Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, and classroom cleanup as needed.
• Help keep classrooms clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next part of the day.
• Follow all school safety, supervision, cleanliness, and confidentiality policies.
• Greet families warmly and represent the school professionally.
• Communicate concerns to the Director or classroom teacher when needed.
• Follow all DCF, licensing, and Building Kidz policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Must enjoy working with young children.
• Must be flexible and willing to work in different classrooms.
• Must be able to pass required background screening.
• Must complete required DCF training, CPR/First Aid, Safe Sleep, and other required trainings within the required timeframe.
• Prior childcare experience preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, play on the floor, and actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
