Preschool Teacher or Teacher Aide - Early Childhood Education

Roots School & Makery is hiring a preschool teacher or teacher aide. Roots School is a welcoming facility located on two acres on the beautiful westside of Hood River, Oregon. We are a back to the basics learning facility for young children, ages 5 and under. At Roots School, children learn by play, hands on projects, spending time outdoors, and using their senses to explore their world.

Job Responsibilities:

Implement or assist classroom teacher as needed with activities and preparation and provide individual assistance to children.

Develop and maintain a constructive, nurturing and professional rapport with parents and children.

Collaborate with other teachers to ensure Roots School fosters an environment that is welcoming and enjoyable and positive.

Job Qualifications:

• Caring, patient, and nurturing attitude toward children
• At least one year of experience working with children in a certified childcare center preferred but not necessary.
• Teacher or Teacher Aide qualified according to the Oregon Department of Education standards.
• Strong working knowledge of best practices in early childhood development and education.
• Strong communication, collaborative, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to our school for at least one year to provide consistency for children in your care.
• Organized, tidy, reliable, and ready to be a dependable team member.

Within your first 30 days of employment, you'll need to have the following training:

Food Handler's Card

Child/Infant CPR and First Aid

Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect

Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety

Safe Sleep Training
