The Press Mounter prepares sleeves for installation in flexographic printing presses and is responsible for quality/productivity associated with materials processed through assigned machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares sleeves for installation in flexographic printing presses

Mounts photopolymer plates onto sleeves and proofing

Notifies management whenever equipment is found to be malfunctioning, damaged, or in need of repair

Maintains production and quality standards as set forth by supervision.

Organizes workflow for smooth operation

Makes necessary adjustments and monitors equipment so that product complies with work order

Lifts and places printing sleeves of specified size on mounter-proofing machine

Measures and sets cameras used as guides for alignment of printing plates

Applies cushion backing to sleeve to prep for plate mounting

Maneuvers plate on sleeve for proper position according to job specifications

Checks plates versus supplied proofs to verify accuracy.

Inspects and inventories all used printing plates and returns to their proper storage area

Aids in the training of newly hired Plate Mounters

Reads and thoroughly understands the Job Ticket before starting each job

Produces jobs according to the specifications and instructions written on the job ticket

Maintains cleanliness and order of work area and department

Accurately records all necessary job data
- Understands color and the instruments used to monitor or correct color during a make-ready and press run.

Works scheduled hours with predictable and reliable attendance

Performs various special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
-
Two years’ experience mounting plates
- Basic math skills including the ability to read and use a tape measure
- Must communicate in both verbal and written matters as well as read, write, and understand English

Work is performed within a process manufacturing environment. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling. The noise level is moderate to high, and PPE is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and extreme heat; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be available 24 hours a day for plant or equipment emergencies.
