Press & New Media Fellow
Tram Nguyen for Congress is seeking a dedicated, creative, and tech-savvy Press & New Media Fellow to serve as a key member of the campaign’s digital communications operation. In this role, you will support the campaign’s online presence and daily press operations to help elect the first Asian American and first immigrant to Congress in Massachusetts. Position is available immediately with mid to late June start dates.
Core Responsibilities

Press Monitoring & Daily Clips:
Preparing and distributing daily morning press clips and media summaries for candidate and campaign leadership. Monitoring local, state, and national political news, tracking earned media coverage, and flagging relevant narratives, stories, and rapid-response opportunities in real time.

Social Media Production:
Drafting social copy, captions, video scripts, thumbnails, and platform-specific messaging across Instagram, X, Facebook, Bluesky, Threads, and TikTok. Assisting with posting and maintaining the campaign’s “@TeamTramHQ”

Video Editing & Content Production:
Editing rapid-response and short-form vertical video content using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Edits, or similar software. Producing recap reels, earned media amplification clips, livestream cutdowns, and meme/reactive content.

Creative & Graphic Design:
Creating engaging graphics, event promotions, memes, and other digital collateral for social media and campaign communications.

Asset Management & Organization:
Archiving, organizing, and maintaining campaign footage, photo libraries, graphics, and digital assets through Google Drive.

Proactive Ideation & Trend Monitoring:
Identifying emerging trends, viral formats, creator opportunities, and platform-native content ideas that can help amplify the campaign’s message and reach new audiences.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:

Have experience editing short-form video content using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Edits, Final Cut Pro, or similar platforms

Possess strong writing instincts and the ability to draft concise, engaging social copy under tight deadlines

Be highly familiar with internet culture, meme formats, creator ecosystems, and platform trends

Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Be comfortable working in a rapid-response, political environment with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities during major campaign moments

Have familiarity with Canva, Google Drive, Meta Business Suite, Slack, and similar digital workflow tools

Demonstrate strong political judgment and an interest in political communications, journalism, campaigns, or digital media

Thrive in collaborative, high-intensity environments while also being able to work independently and proactively
Candidates should already possess strong foundational editing and content production skills, though mentorship and professional development will be provided throughout the fellowship.
Backgrounds in communications, journalism, film/video production, political science, public relations, photography, marketing, or related fields are encouraged but not required.

Location:
Salem, MA. This position is hybrid and based in the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District. In-district applicants are highly encouraged to apply.
Commitment:
At least 10 hours a week in-district (Salem HQ or staffing content creation)
Compensation:
$600/month
