Becht is looking for mid-career Pressure Vessel Engineer (PVE) who wants to take the next step in their technical career. We are a world-class, family-owned multidiscipline engineering firm serving the energy sector (refining, petrochemical, and power generation industries), providing expertise that spans both traditional and emerging technology. Becht is a technical leader in pressure vessels, piping, structures, and materials and as such has a major role in international codes and standards, allowing a unique opportunity to both learn and contribute at an industry-wide level. Responsibilities:

The PVE will be tasked with providing technical guidance for fixed equipment assets from a mechanical engineering perspective. The work will focus primarily on in-service pressure vessels and heat exchangers but may also include piping, tanks, or other associated equipment as the need arises. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.

  • Experience with the application of industry codes and standards for pressure vessels such as ASME Section VIII, API 579, ASME PCC-1, ASME PCC-2, API 510, NBIC NB-23, etc.
  • Experience with field troubleshooting and system walk-downs and the ability to travel to customer sites.
  • Experience with turnaround support, planning, & execution.
  • Experience with the commercial software COMPRESS or PV Elite.
  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and mechanics.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and clients.

Qualifications that set you apart (but not required):

  • Professional Engineer licensure in at least one US state.
  • API certifications for 510, 570, 571, and/or 653.
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII, Division 2 design and construction.
  • Experience with advanced analysis such as ASME Section VIII, Division 2 Part 5 – Design by Analysis or Level 3 Fitness for Service assessments.
  • Experience with ABAQUS finite element analysis software.
  • Knowledge of other fixed equipment such as piping, tanks, and boilers.
  • Knowledge of refractory, relief valves, and NDE techniques.
