Job Summary
The Preventive Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and cleaning of machines and related equipment. This role focuses on performing routine preventive maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance, minimize downtime, and prevent operational failures. The technician supports safety, quality, and food safety standards while maintaining accurate documentation within the CMMS system.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)
- Perform routine inspections and checks of company facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace worn or defective parts.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities to prevent the development of equipment faults.
- Record parts usage, maintain spare parts accountability, and initiate orders as needed.
- Identify and document potential failure conditions and follow-up corrective work.
- Complete and close preventive maintenance work orders in the CMMS system, including documentation of findings, parts used, and recommended corrective actions.
- Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance schedules and activities within the CMMS to reduce downtime and potential failures.
- Assist in root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Support equipment startup and operational verification following major preventive maintenance activities.
- Submit reports detailing work activities and progress to supervisors.
- Maintain compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times
- Ensure all areas and work environments are free of hazardous objects and substances.
- Adhere to all quality and food safety programs, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation audits, HACCP procedures, and product quality checks in accordance with company policies.
- Assist in the movement of materials and labor for maintenance and project work as needed.
- Assist and/or supervise external technicians and subcontractors when required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- HSE or HVAC certification is preferred
Experience Required:
- 2 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of filling and packaging equipment in a food manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with mechanics, electric, pneumatic and electronic systems.
- Experience with Preventative Maintenance processes and systems
Pay Range : $32-$36 per hour
Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
