Primary Coaches
Minimal qualifications of position are age 21 and older with an interest and passion in advocacy work with adolescents who suffer from trauma, behavioral and emotional disturbances that impact their daily level of functioning. Bachelor degrees in social work, psychology, mental health, counseling, or related field is optimal, but experience in the related field can be used as a waiver in lieu of a degree. Candidates must have a high school diploma.
This position reports directly to the Program Director.
The Primary Staff are responsible for the overall daily management of 8-12 students and their families. Student progress and parent involvement and satisfaction are the key goals of the position. This can only be done through strong interpersonal relationship skills and proactive interventions and involvement. Responsibilities include:
· Implementation of student treatment plan in collaboration with Individual Therapist and Family Therapist
· Completing weekly Progress Notes on each student and reviewing student progress in treatment team meetings
· Overseeing all aspects of each student’s program including:
o Progress through student handbook assignments
o Medical, dental and psychiatric appointments and management
o Ensuring timely completion of assignments and interventions
Student Coach
· Develop positive working relationships with students through:
o Teaching and modeling the principles found in the Anatomy of Peace
o Daily interaction modeling healthy relationships and appropriate boundaries in the milieu
o Facilitating small group to follow up on student goals, therapeutic assignments, interventions
o +3 and overall progress
· Teach and model goal setting (STOP CAR), collaborative problem solving, relationship skills and life skills
· Model healthy lifestyle
· Implement student treatment plan and be innovative in designing therapeutic interventions in collaboration with Individual Therapist and Family Therapist
· Respond calmly and appropriately to crises
Parent Liaison
· Foster treatment alliances with student families. Duties include:
o Weekly updates of student progress to parents. These updates may be in the form of face to face conversations, phone calls, emails, texts and/or posting pictures and updates to The Living Summary
o Updating the Living Summary, student phases, etc.
o Participate in Parent Weekends
o Problem solve with parents when there are concerns or issues. Facilitate a collaborative approach to problem solving between the parents and program (therapists, teachers, front office, etc.)
· New Student/Parent Responsibilities
o Contact parents within 24 hours of being assigned a new student
§ Introduce to Living Summary
· Review how to send and receive letters, who to contact in different situations, Review expectations
· Communication schedule
· Contact with student
· Parent involvement
· Review Student Handbook
o Ensure that student has been given a uniform, Student Handbook and that a Client Binder has been made
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Hiring is contingent upon receiving MO State Highway fingerprint clearance, Family Care Safety Registry child abuse and neglect clearance, a negative TB test, and a physical clearance. Current CPR/AED/1stAid required prior to employment.
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
