1. Position Overview
The Primary English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language skills—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—to students of classes 1 to 5. The teacher must create a joyful, literacy-rich learning environment that builds strong foundational language skills and nurtures confidence in communication. The role should align with CBSE and NEP-guided pedagogies.
2. Key Responsibilities A. Academic Delivery
- Teach English to Grades 1–5 as per the CBSE curriculum.
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, phonics activities, reading modules, grammar exercises, and creative writing tasks.
- Strengthen foundational literacy using phonics, sight words, blends, reading aloud, and age-appropriate vocabulary building.
- Use storytelling, picture cards, audio-visual tools, and interactive activities to make learning engaging.
- Ensure timely completion of the syllabus with high-quality instruction.
- Conduct periodic assessments, worksheets, dictations, and maintain student progress records.
B. Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and child-friendly classroom environment.
- Encourage active participation through group activities, pair work, role plays, and discussions.
- Provide differentiated instruction for varying ability levels.
- Support students with reading difficulties or language delays through remedial classes.
C. Student Development
- Build children's confidence in spoken English, pronunciation, fluency, and expression.
- Cultivate a love for reading through story time, book clubs, and library sessions.
- Encourage creativity through poems, dialogues, story creation, and drama.
- Guide students in developing essential 21st-century communication skills.
D. Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare question papers, worksheets, and assessment sheets in alignment with CBSE norms.
- Maintain detailed documentation — lesson plans, student portfolios, reading logs, and assessment records.
- Participate in PTMs, staff meetings, professional training, and school events.
- Collaborate with other teachers for integrated and theme-based teaching.
E. Professional Conduct
- Follow school policies, safeguarding norms, and academic standards.
- Stay updated on best teaching practices, NEP 2020 literacy frameworks, and language pedagogy.
- Use digital tools and smart-class technology effectively.
- Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and teamwork.
3. Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:
- Bachelor’s Degree (English preferred) with B.Ed.
- Strong command of English (spoken and written).
Preferred:
- Experience teaching primary classes in a CBSE school (1–3 years).
- Knowledge of phonics, language acquisition, and early literacy techniques.
- Training in NEP-aligned pedagogies, story-based learning, or activity-based teaching.
