1. Position Overview
The Primary EVS Teacher is responsible for teaching Environmental Studies to students of classes 1–5. The role focuses on developing awareness, observation, critical thinking, and understanding of the environment, community, plants, animals, health, safety, and surroundings. Teaching should follow CBSE and NEP 2020 guidelines using activity-based, experiential learning.
2. Key Responsibilities A. Academic Delivery
- Teach EVS to primary students (Grades 1–5) as per the CBSE curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, and hands-on activities.
- Use storytelling, real-life examples, field observations, experiments, and visual tools.
- Introduce themes such as family, community helpers, plants, animals, water, food, shelter, seasons, safety rules, cleanliness, health, and environment awareness.
- Ensure syllabus completion within the academic timelines.
- Conduct assessments, quizzes, projects, and maintain student progress records.
B. Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline and create a positive, student-friendly environment.
- Encourage inquiry-based learning — asking questions, exploring, observing, and analyzing.
- Guide students during group projects, nature walks, and experiential activities.
- Cater to different learning needs through differentiated instruction.
C. Student Development
- Foster environmental awareness, empathy, responsibility, and curiosity.
- Promote good habits: hygiene, safety, conservation, respect for plants/animals, and community participation.
- Build foundational scientific thinking through observation, classification, comparison, and reasoning.
- Encourage participation in eco-club activities, nature projects, and environmental events.
D. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain lesson plans, student portfolios, project records, and assessment sheets.
- Prepare question papers, worksheets, and activity guides.
- Participate in PTMs, staff meetings, school events, academic planning, and workshops.
- Coordinate with other subject teachers for integrated theme-based learning.
E. Professional Conduct
- Follow school policies, safeguarding norms, and CBSE guidelines.
- Engage in professional development related to EVS pedagogy and NEP 2020 experiential learning.
- Use digital tools (smart board, videos, presentations) effectively.
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and teamwork.
3. Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with B.Ed. (Science or EVS background preferred).
- Strong understanding of child development and EVS concepts.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching Primary EVS in a CBSE school (1–3 years).
- Training in activity-based learning, NEP 2020 methodologies, or experiential learning.
