Principal Electrical Engineer

Position Summary
The Principal Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership for all electrical design activities at Softronics Ltd. This role combines hands-on design expertise with project oversight, serving as a technical project manager who plans, leads, and reviews work performed by engineering staff.

Ideal for a seasoned electrical engineer with deep experience in radio systems, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to deliver cutting-edge, customer-focused solutions in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accept requirements from business development, refine them into detailed electrical requirements, perform designs with supporting documentation, and develop customer performance specifications.
  • Document and analyze project needs, goals, risks, and objectives to ensure design integrity and mission success.
  • Create circuit and system designs, including component selection, schematic capture, modeling, and analysis to meet product requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical design with software, mechanical, and other system elements to achieve integrated solutions.
  • Develop and maintain internal policies and design procedures for electrical engineering.
  • Ensure conformance with applicable design, quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with Production Operations to enable smooth transition to manufacturing.
  • Provide technical analysis to support circuit changes, approvals, and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in strategic planning and proposal efforts as requested by business development.
  • Effectively interact with Engineering Staff, Program Management, Production Operations, Business Development, and Finance to coordinate and execute design work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on design and development of radio products and systems.
  • Strong background in RF/microwave communication equipment, including transceiver architectures, functional component blocks, performance specifications, and test methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan project-level work and deliver on schedule, cost, and performance goals.
  • General knowledge of related disciplines, including printed wiring board layout, software design techniques, mechanical design, and product assembly processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing build, test, quality assurance, and customer acceptance processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant radio performance and testing standards (military, commercial, FAA).
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for managing diverse technical talent.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience leading U.S. Government R&D projects in RF, electronic warfare, or communications systems.
  • Proven success in technical proposal development and customer engagements.
  • Systems-level thinking with the ability to integrate electrical hardware with software and mechanical elements.
  • Exposure to Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies and software/hardware integration strategies.

Pay: $87,033.41 - $104,814.42 per year
